Opening up to family and friends about what you’re going through may feel embarrassing, uncomfortable or an unrealistic option for you. However, getting help from a therapist will allow you to have a safe non judgmental space where you can feel free to talk openly about the issues that are preventing you from having a happy fulfilling life.
- You will begin to feel accepted and understood when you share your struggles with someone who won’t tell you to “Stop worrying!” or “Calm down. It’s all in your head.”
- You will learn to use deep breathing, visualization, relaxation, and meditation techniques to increase your ability to manage difficult emotions while increasing your ability to feel calm and in control of your emotions.
- You will learn to identify and change patterns of negative thinking by challenging negative and self-defeating thoughts, and will learn to, get your wants and needs met by communicating your feelings in a healthy way.
- You will learn to identify and eliminate negative core beliefs that are contributing to feelings of anxiety and depression.
- Relationship issues are addressed to help you connect with yourself and communicate your wants and needs with others.
